US tyre imports sourced from Thailand rise sharply in first two months of 2024

US tyre imports surged 28% in the first two months of 2024, totalling 45.26 million units.
Passenger car and truck tyre imports rose 22% and 38% respectively, but aircraft tyres slipped 23%.
Thailand and China were the main sources of imports, but China's exports continued to fall, while Thailand rose sharply.
Total US imports of tyres from China rose 34% in January-February this year, but imports of both passenger car and truck tyres fell.
On the contrary, the United States imported from Thailand up to 11.27 million tyres, up 67% year-on-year, passenger car and truck tyre imports have risen sharply.
