The application of ZMTI (zinc salt of 1,3-dihydro-4-methyl-2-mercaptobenzimidazole) as an antioxidant in hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) peroxide vulcanization was investigated. The effects of ZMTI on the performance of HNBR peroxide vulcanization system were investigated in comparison with other antioxidants in equal amounts, as well as the effects of ZMTI alone and in combination with ODA (dioctylated diphenylamine). The results showed that the effect of ZMTI on the vulcanization characteristics and mechanical properties of HNBR peroxide vulcanization system was smaller than those of other antioxidants, and the heat resistance was better than those of other antioxidants, and the heat resistance became better with the increase of dosage, but the compressive permanent deformation properties decreased. When it is used with a small amount of ODA, it has a certain synergistic effect on the heat resistance.
