Rubber vulcanizing agents include elemental sulfur, selenium, tellurium, sulfur-containing compounds, peroxides, quinone compounds, amine compounds, resin compounds, metal oxides and isocyanates. The most commonly used are elemental sulfur and sulfur compounds. Vulcanizers are suitable for all types of natural and synthetic rubber, and different varieties of vulcanizers can be used in conjunction with each other.

The addition of accelerator in rubber can promote the reaction between rubber and vulcanizing agent, improve the speed of vulcanization, reduce the vulcanization temperature, shorten the vulcanization time, reduce the amount of vulcanizing agent, while the physical and mechanical properties of the vulcanized rubber and chemical properties are also improved. The accelerator, also known as vulcanization active agent, is used to make the vulcanization accelerator to play an active role of inorganic or organic substances. It can make the accelerator play the maximum capacity, reduce the amount of accelerator, shorten the vulcanization time.

Rubber and its products in the long-term storage and use process, due to heat, oxygen, ozone, metal ions, mechanical stress, light, high-energy rays, as well as other chemicals and mold and other erosion, will gradually sticky, hard and brittle or cracked. This physical and mechanical properties over time and the decline in elasticity of the phenomenon is called aging. In addition to natural, isoamyl, chloroprene rubber with self-reinforcement, other diolefin rubber must be reinforced with reinforcing agents to have practical value. Commonly used reinforcing agents are carbon black and silica.
